Registration: The deadline to avoid late fee’s is 14 April 2007. A $5 late fee per day will be applied after that date.  No "Day-of" registrations will be accepted for competitive courses.

Lodging: The barracks at Camp Buckner are undergoing minor renovations and will not be available for the meet. Camping will be available on site, but as of now the normal five-star barracks will not be available.  Hotels in the area

Concessions & Vendors:
  • The Concession stand to benefit the College O Fund will again be available for your enjoyment: Saturday from 10AM until 2PM and on Sunday 9:30AM to awards.
  • Vendors will again be on site to fill your orienteering supply needs.
 

Saturday Night Dinner:

  • Saturday night dinner will be catered again by Loughrans.  (same caterer as last year--great chow!) and is an additional $10
  • Following dinner Saturday night, Mike Hendricks Team Officer Representative and Academy Professor of Geospatial Information Science at West Point will describe a number of technological advances related to orienteering that include the recent LIDAR acquisition of West Point.
  • The Junior Team's Silent Auction will again be held during the Saturday night meal. For additional information contact Donna Fluegel.

 

 
Competitive Courses:
  • Two day Standard Event: Blue, Red, Green, Brown, Orange, Yellow and White will all have competitive and open categories both days.
  • Sprint: Saturday afternoon sprint event, part of the 2007 Sprint Series, start anytime between 2 and 4 pm. Link to the Sprint Series page:                      http://www.petergagarin.org/

Terrain, Climate, and Hazards:  Nestled in the scenic Hudson Highlands, West Point’s terrain offers a challenging orienteering experience, with rocky hills, steep valleys varied forests, and challenging marshes.

 

Maps:  
Day 1:  Though for years we've enjoyed access to the adjoining land of Black Rock Forest, however, this year they denied our request late into the process. As a result our day 1 courses will now be East of Long Mountain. 1:10000 for all courses.  
  Day 2:  Southwest portion of West Point with extensive areas inside Harriman State Park. The courses will be West of Long Mountain. 1:10000 for all courses.  
  Sprint: 1:5,000 more details to follow.  
     

E-punch: E--punch cards are $2 per day to rent.  You must use e-punching for competitive courses.

Directions:

Awards: To the top three finishers in each competitive category.
