Why Major in Leadership?

What else could be more relevant to your future? Leadership is providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organization (FM 22-100). Today's volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous global environment makes the Army officer's duty extremely challenging.

In order to meet that challenge, leaders must constantly improve their skills. A major in Leadership will provide you with new knowledge about the issues involved with leading at the individual, group, and organizational level that you can apply to your experiences as a leader in the Corps and in the Army. You'll study concepts and learn new skills in areas from individual counseling to leading organizations through change. Our goal is to help you become a more effective leader in today's Army.

"Leadership and management are neither synonymous nor interchangeable. Clearly good civilian managers must lead, and good military leaders must manage. Both qualities are essential to success."
