Model UN Wins Outstanding Delegation at
Princeton
(3.02.08)
The Model United Nations Team took the
Outstanding Delegation Award at Princeton University’s
Interactive Crisis Simulation this weekend. Despite stiff
competition from rival Georgetown University, eleven members of
the 12-cadet team received individual awards. Duke University
and the University of Pennsylvania also attended the
competition. The team is now preparing for its final, and most
important, conference of the season: The World Model United
Nations Conference, which will be held in Puebla, Mexico, 24-28
March.
Model UN Expands Academy Outreach with Success
at Harvard and Georgetown
(2.19.08)
This past weekend the West Point Model United Nations Team made
quite possibly the largest single weekend impact in its history.
With a 13 member team competing at the Harvard Nationals Model
United Nations Conference in Boston led by ACIC CDT J.C.C. Mahre
('08) and the CIC CDT Sunny Menozzi ('08) Crisis Directing a
simulation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at the North
American Invitational Model United Nations Conference in
Washington, D.C. the team demonstrated its skills of debate,
international diplomacy, and dedication to excellence to over
6200 college and high school students between the two
conferences. The team at Harvard had one of its most difficult
country assignments yet, representing the troubled state of
Pakistan in the General Assembly and Economic and Social
Councils. The young team, consisting almost entirely of third
and fourth class cadets, showed great poise and maturity winning
several individual awards, obtaining one of the highest winning
percentages of any team at the conference, and making a positive
impression of the Academy on thousands of their collegiate
peers. Next the team will be traveling to the Princeton
Interactive Crisis Simulation in Princeton, NJ where it will be
competing in several small crisis cabinets recreating the
nations of the turbulent Horn of Africa region.
Model UN Wins Best Small Delegation at McGill
(1.28.08)
The West Point Model United Nations Team began 2008 just as it
ended 2007---with another victory. At the McGill Model United
Nations Conference in Montreal, Canada, the team took first
place winning, Best Small Delegation. The 15 member team, led by
CIC Sunny Menozzi and MAJ Troy Schnack as OIC, represented the
Russian Federation in the General Assembly committees and a wide
range of positions within specialized agencies at the most
prestigious Model United Nations conference in Canada. Cadets'
roles ranged from playing the Soviet delegate in a historical
simulation of United Nations Security Council to participating
in a futuristic simulation of Barrak Obama's National Security
Council. The conference was the largest in Montreal to date with
nearly 1500 student delegates from colleges and universities
around the world. Army's competition ranged from traditional
powers like Harvard and Georgetown and to international schools
such as the University of Calgary and Universidad Central de
Venezuela . For all involved, it offered an interesting exchange
between Americans, Canadians, and other international students
on a wide array of political issues.
Model UN Takes Home Ben Franklin Cup
(11.19.07)
The West Point Model United Nations
team won the Best Small Delegation Award
and the Ben Franklin Cup this weekend at the
University
of Pennsylvania Model United Nations
Conference
in Philadelphia.

conferences of the fall semester, boasted approximately 1,200
delegates from schools such as
Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Georgetown,
and the University
of Chicago.
From the
15-member delegation,
13 members were recognized for individual performance in
committee.

colleges and universities, including Harvard University, the
University of Chicago, and the University of Pennsylvania. The
team gave a strong performance with 10 of 14 cadets winning
individual awards. The Security Crisis Simulation at Yale
consists of several small crisis simulation cabinets and
committees, and is recognized as the most challenging conference
of its type on the collegiate Model UN circuit.
Model
UN Team Wins Again at Georgetown
(10.01.07)
For the sixth year in a
row, the West Point Model United Nations team won the first
place team award at the National Collegiate Security Conference
at Georgetown University. The team competed against 28
other colleges and universities, including tough competitors
like the College of William & Mary, the
University of Pennsylvania,
Columbia University, and McGill University. The 16-cadet strong
delegation, largely consisting of younger team members, brought
home 13 individual awards in the 12 committees of which we were
a part. In
contrast, the
second-place, University of Miami team received
only 3 individual awards. This was an impressive victory for
the team, and kicks off what will surely be a successful 2008
season.
Strong Showing in Geneva
(3.30.07)
The West Point
Model UN team returned from the World conference in Geneva,
Switzerland, with both triumphs and disappointments. While the
cadets worked extremely hard all week in their committees, the
team's four-time winning streak at Worlds was finally broken. While
five out of twelve cadets won individual awards, the team overall
fell short of a big enough win percentage to take home the top
prize. In the end, West Point had the second highest win percentage
in the small delegation category, which included the majority
of teams competing this year. Overall, nearly 1,700 students from
172 universities, representing 43 countries, competed at World 2007.
MUN Team Takes First at Both UC-Berkeley and
Princeton on the Same Weekend
(3.04.07)
For the second time in the West Point Model United Nations team’s history
split teams took first place simultaneously at both conferences. As the two
conferences overlapped each other, a team of eight Cadets traveled out to
San Francisco and took Best Delegation at the University of California-
Berkeley Model United Nations Conference while a team of twelve Cadets took
Best Delegation at the Princeton Interactive Crisis Simulation. In San
Francisco, the Cadets representing Kazakhstan and Japan competed against the
top West Coast schools like UCLA as well as East Coast rivals from the
University of Pennsylvania and the University of Chicago. In Princeton, a
team consisting of many first time delegates took part in an interactive
crisis simulation with schools including Georgetown, Duke, and McGill.
Second Place at Nationals
(2.18.07)
In
the largest and most competitive Harvard National Model UN conference to
date, the West Point team took second place in the small delegation
category, beating out strong teams from Stanford, Columbia, George
Washington, and William and Mary. Over 2,800 college students representing
187 separate universities, coming from 27 different countries competed this
year.

place team award at the Security Council Simulation (SCSY) Model UN
conference at Yale University. This marks the second time consecutively,
and the second time in team history, that the team won first place in the
“Best Large Delegation” category. The cadets overwhelmed the competition and
came home with an 85.7% win rate and 12 individual awards.

competitors like William and Mary, the
University
of
Pennsylvania,

The cadets brought home 11 individual awards, and won best delegate in 7
of the 11 committees of which we were a part. This marks one of the most
impressive victories to date for the team, and kicks of what will surely be
a hugely successful 2007 season.
World Champs for the 4th Time in a Row!
(04.02.06)
The West Point Model United Nations Team won its unprecedented 4th
straight World Championship in Beijing, China. The 12 cadet team competed
against 1400 delegates from 37 countries around the world. This year, the
team was chosen to represent Brazil and Georgia throughout the simulation.
Among the West Point Team's competitors were the College of William and
Mary, Oxford University, the University of Pennsylvania, MIT, and Lahore
University. The World Model United Nations Conference is an annual event
hosted by Harvard's Model UN program at a rotating international city. The
past three locations of West Point's victories included Edinburgh, Scotland,
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, and Heidelberg, Germany. Ultimately, fifty percent
of the West Point team won individual awards that contributed heavily to the
overall team victory. With the 2006 World Championships over, the team has
concluded an undefeated string of victories dating back to November of 2004
or in 11 straight conferences! Moreover, the experience was the first of its
kind to take place in Asia as cadets were able to meet students from
throughout the Eastern Hemisphere for the first time.
Victory at UCLA
(03.05.06)
The West Point Model United Nations Team continues its unprecedented
winning streak with yet another victory at the University of
California Los Angeles Model United Nations Conference this past
weekend. The streak dates back to January 2005 when the team
won the McGill Model UN Conference in Montreal. The conference
was an overwhelming victory as 8 of 10 cadets competing were
individually recognized for their performance. Regarded as a
prestigious conference on the west coast, UCLA MUN hosted various
delegations with excellent Model UN programs. In attendance were
University of California Berkeley, the University of Illinois at
Chicago, Cornell University, and the University of Georgia to name
just a few.
West Point Takes Nationals
(02.19.06)
For the second year in a row, the West Point Model United Nations team
has won the Harvard National Model UN championship as the "best small
delegation". To put this in perspective, this year the Harvard conference
had over 2,600 students from around the world, representing 183
universities. Of the 16 cadets competing, 14 brought home personal awards;
the cadets took awards in nine of the eleven committees West Point was
represented in. This includes a sweep of the General Assembly committees,
which each have nearly 300 students competing. With a win ratio of 87.5%,
West Point had a much stronger overall finish than Yale, the University of
Chicago, and the University of Pennsylvania, the three mega-delegations in
final contention for "best large delegation".
Victory in Canada
(01.29.06)
The West Point Model United Nations Team began 2006 just as it ended
2005---with another victory. The team's first place finish at the McGill
Model United Nations Conference in Montreal, Canada was the fourth
consecutive victory at McGill and continues the team's undefeated streak
from 2005. Cadets' roles ranged from playing China on the International
Atomic Energy Agency and speaking about nuclear verification in Iran to
revisiting the United States National Security Council during the Vietnam
War. The conference was the largest in Montreal to date with nearly 1400
student delegates from colleges and universities around the world. Army's
competition ranged from traditional powers like Harvard and William and Mary
to more local schools such as the University of Calgary or Ottawa
University. For all involved, it offered an interesting exchange between
Americans and Canadians on a wide array of political issues amidst a
changing regime in Canada.

Philadelphia Brings Back the Cup

Franklin Cup.
Split UN Team Wins
First Place Delegation at Both Yale and Georgetown
(10.23.05)
The West Point Model United Nations Team
is coming off its most
successful weekend in team history. Due to conference conflicts, the
team was forced to compete simultaneously at two venues in the past
weekend. A 12-cadet team was sent to represent the Russian
Federation at the National Collegiate Security Conference in
Washington DC, sponsored by Georgetown University. In addition, an
8-cadet team was also sent to compete in various security scenarios
at the Security Council Simulation at Yale University in New Haven.
Both teams took first place at the conferences. Moreover, a
staggering 16 out of 20 cadets received an individual award of
distinction for their work at each conference.

Atop the World
(4.1.05)
The West Point Model United Nations Team
won an unprecedented third straight world championship by earning
the Outstanding Delegation Award for Diplomacy at this year’s 2005
Harvard World Model United Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. Over
1300 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 80 schools

global conference. Unlike other conferences that draw an
overwhelmingly American and Canadian population, this conference
attracted schools from throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa,
and Asia. The World MUN Conference takes place annually at a
rotating host city around the world. Past cities include Sharm
el-Sheikh, Egypt, Heidelberg, Germany, and Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
World MUN is the last conference of the year for the cadets and the

history as there were 5 first place team finishes to include the
National Championship in February.

Council debating the Rwanda question or the Middle East summit and
OPEC oil rights.
