Applying
To be eligible to compete for a position on the faculty,
officers must have completed the career course and company-level command.
Their records must be such that their branches are willing to nominate them for
the USMA faculty. To evaluate applicants, the Department must have recent
GRE scores and a copy of an officer’s undergraduate transcript. Careful
consideration of potential military faculty starts about two years before the
beginning of Advanced Civil Schooling (ACS).
Officers interested in
competing for a teaching assignment in the Department of English should complete
the initial interest application located
here.

Curriculum, Teaching & Service
Most faculty teach four sections per
semester. Core courses average around fifteen students per section but
never have more than eighteen.
Literature -- New literature
instructors will generally teach four sections of
EN101 in the fall
and four sections of
EN102 in the spring. In subsequent years, instructors will teach a mix
of these courses and
EN302.
Philosophy -- New philosophy
instructors will generally teach two sections of
EN101 and two
sections of PY201
in the fall; and four sections of
PY201 in the
spring. In subsequent years, philosophy instructors may also teach
sections of
EN302.
While these are common teaching loads, they are subject
to modification for any number of reasons.
