NOTE: you must have Java 1.6 to run these applets!

2D Vector Field

The vector field F(x,y)=(P(x,y), Q(x,y)) is shown below.
A couple things you can do with this:
  • Change the functions P(x,y) and Q(x,y) to get a new vector field.
  • Adjust the style of visualization using the slider at the bottom.
  • VERY COOL: change the style to "flows" and hit the play button at left.
  • Show a solution curve to the underlying differential equation: toggle visibility from right-click menu under "Options", "DE Solution Curve Options", "Visible". You can drag the starting point of the curve around to see various solutions.
  • Show an arbitrary parametric curve: toggle visibility as mentioned here. You can adjust the equation from the "Curve" tab.
